A medley of oranges and greens and teals in a beautiful striped pattern.  This ikat cotton fabric is handwoven and dyed. It is a beautiful, lightweight fabric and suitable for dresses, tops, shirts, and looser-fitting trousers or shorts.

Ikat is a resist dyeing technique where the threads used for weaving are dyed beforehand.  The Ikat threads are bound in a pattern so that the threads covered by the binding ‘resist’ the dye, creating a design.  The more binding done before weaving, the more complicated the pattern.

Fabric is sold by the 1/2 yard (so 1 unit is 1/2 yard, 2 units is 1 yard, etc.).  All yardage is cut as a continous piece.

  • 45" (116cm) wide.
  • 100% cotton.
  • For the first couple of washes, place the fabric in the washing machine set to warm with a handful of table salt. This will help fix the dye to prevent it running. Wash warm, with a non-bio detergent, and on a gentle spin. Always pre wash your cloth before sewing to get rid of any shrinkage and set colors.
  • As Indian our cloths are handmade, sometimes susceptible to irregularities in the weave or print, this is all part of their charm and are not classed as flaws.
