133 Belgian Military Chef's Jacket
Misses 8-18; Men's 34-44.
Adapted from regulation Belgian military issue in olive cotton gabardine, our version also looks great in chef's white, brilliantly colored silk, or any other fabric. Cook up a creative variation of this fashionably cropped jacket by piecing the front and back panels from contrasting fabrics or with unusual buttons. Lapels can be worn open or closed.
Suggested fabrics: Medium or heavyweight cottons and blends such as poplin, denim, gabardine, corduroy, linen; light to medium-weight wool; suiting weight silks.
In Step One: Preliminary Construction, the second thing you do is stitch the Side Back pieces to the assembled Back. The next thing you do is stitch the Side Front Pieces to the assembled Back/Side Back. Note that the drawing is correct (Side Front pieces are labeled "D"), but the text is wrong (Side Front pieces are labeled "C").
