Folkwear's 201 Prairie Dress pattern is based on the dress worn by the stalwart women who conquered the 19th century American prairie! This flowing dress was traditionally worn with a practical apron, but looks modern and stylish without as well. With or without the apron, mid-calf or ankle length, the dress is feminine and comfortable. Instructions for vintage embroidered finishing touches are included.
Below are some fabric suggestions from some of our favorite fabric stores. Please note, these suggested fabrics are based on fabrics that are in stock at the time the blog post is written, and may go out of stock from store at some point. If link is invalid for specific product, look for a similar fabric you can substitute.
For the Dress, choose soft fabrics such as calico, gingham, muslin, lightweight cotton, rayon, or wool challis. For the Apron, choose light or medium-weight cotton such as gingham, broadcloth, or muslin.
Something about this cotton floral print feels so classic and also refreshing. Stonemountain and Daughter Fabrics has this in stock. It is listed as a quilting cotton, but is a suitable weight and softness for apparel.
