The 302 Victoria's Boudoir pattern presents a sampling of varied designs and techniques that can be used interchangeably to create a romantic and authentic Victorian bedroom. It has 7 parts to choose from(!): quilt cover, pillow shams, cutwork doilies, dress scarves, throw pillows, sachets, nightcap, and dust ruffle. This pattern also teaches several handwork techniques and patterns for the techniques such as embroidery, cutwork, and handmade applique.
I have assembled a couple gorgeous groupings, or colorways, of fabrics that complement each other and could be intermixed to create a very stunning bedroom. As you can see there are many fabric combos that can work. The picture above is a version Folkwear curated years ago which helps visualize how it all comes together.
PLEASE NOTE: These suggested fabrics are based on fabrics that are in stock at the time the blog post is written, and may go out of stock from store at some point. If link is invalid for specific product, look for a similar fabric you can substitute.
This blue watercolor collection is very dreamy. I have outlined how I would put them to use, but they could be mixed up and shuffled to your liking. The watercolor group fabrics can be found at Harts Fabrics in their quilting cotton line.
I love this floral watercolor Lawn for the main fabric of the quilt cover. It is quite soothing lovely!
This vined blue lawn is my choice for the dust ruffle and/or insets for quilt cover or pillow shams.
I love the subtle polka dots on this fabric and I think it would be great for insets and ruffles on the Pillow Shams and inset pieces for quilt cover. It could also tie together the fabric combination as main fabric for throw pillows!
This earthy floral combo pulls the colors of sunsets and blooms of the prairie. Any of these fine pima cottons would be a dream to snuggle into. These fabrics can be found at Stonemountain and Daughter Fabrics.
Pima Cotton for main quilt cover fabric.
Accent small scale sienna floral fabric for insets on quilt cover and great for pillow shams.
Fantastic pop of color pulling from the blue/greens in the main fabric. This could be a nice contrasting dust ruffle fabric and also could add color as the ruffle fabric on pillow shams and as throw pillows.
Authentic detailing instructions are included in the pattern for Victorian cutwork and embroidery. You can use any of the coordinating fabrics for cutwork details on purchased sheets. Or, choose a solid cotton that complements the fabrics. Michael Levine's carries several colors of Kona Cotton broadcloth.
