Traffic from the trade route through the centuries brought pants from Asia through the Middle East to Africa. This sewing pattern contains three comfortable and timeless pants designs from Turkey, Africa, and India, with elastic or drawstring waist and ankle variations included. These full and flowing easy-sew styles are perfect for casual wear, yoga, belly dancing, or costuming. Historical lore and traditional embroidery designs are included.

View A, the Turkish Pants are full and flowing, gathered at the waist with a drawstring and at the ankles with elastic.

View B, the African Sarouelles, sized for men and women, have a simple drawstring waist with legs that taper to the ankle.  Inseam gussets allow for freedom of movement.  These comfortable pants are quick and easy to sew.

View C, the legs of our Indian Pants are gathered in the front above the thighs into a wide hip panel, which rises to a drawstring waist.  Shaped cuffs above the ankle are faced and traditionally embellished with simple machine embroidery.  Instructions and four embroidery designs are given in the Sarouelles Lore and Embroidery insert.
